Opened in 1967, Wing Luke Museum of the Asian Pacific American Experience is a history museum of the culture, art, and history of Asian Pacific Americans located in Seattle, Washington's Chinatown-International District. As a National Park Service Affiliated Area and the first Smithsonian affiliate in the Pacific Northwest, the museum offers an authentic and unique perspective on the American story. It is the only pan-Asian Pacific American community-based museum in the US.
Nationally recognized for the work in creating dynamic, community-driven exhibitions and programs, the museum features stories of Asian pioneers. From the struggles of early Asian pioneers to accomplished works by national Asian Pacific American artists, their contributions give us a look at what it means to be uniquely American.
Its 60,000 square foot facilities offers three floors to tell its communities' stories, with contemporary galleries showcasing both temporary and permanent exhibitions as well as preserved historic spaces accessible only through daily guided tours. It is more than a museum. The Wing is an experience. Step back in time into the living quarters of Asian pioneers and learn how they shaped Seattle. It is a must-do for anyone who wants the local experience.
