How do I redeem Marriott Rewards points for airline miles?

You can redeem your Marriott Rewards points for frequent flyer miles. The more Rewards points you redeem, the higher the conversion rate, and thus the more miles you receive. Depending on the different airlines, you get 1,500 – 2,000 miles for 10,000 points, 3,500 – 5,000 miles for 20,000 points, and 7,000 – 10,000 miles for 50,000 points, and so on. You’ll receive a 20% discount when you convert your points to United Airline’s MileagePlus award miles.

The Fine Print

When earning and redeeming Marriott Rewards points, these are the things you need to keep in mind.

  • Rooms booked through third party online retailers, such as Expedia.com, Orbitz.com, Travelocity.com, Hotels.com, Booking.com, and Priceline, are not eligible for Miles.
  • When choosing to earn Miles, members must designate a participating airline frequent flyer program to which their Miles will be credited. Once Miles have been awarded to the designated participating frequent flyer program, they may not be changed to another participating program’s miles or converted to Reward points.
  • Miles cannot be split between frequent flyer programs. The miles must go into one frequent flyer account that is in the same name as the Marriott Rewards account from where the exchange originates.
  • Charges that do not qualify for Miles include taxes on room rate, purchase of Marriott or The Ritz-Carlton gift cards, charges for third party-provided goods and services, and banquet functions or catering charged to the guest room account.
  • Only the member may earn Miles through the Rewards program for his/her account. Miles for a room shared by two Rewards members will only be awarded to one member.
  • Mileage is limited to individual travel and the room must be paid for individually by the member or direct billed to the party responsible for paying the bill. If the room is master-billed, the charges are not eligible for Miles.
